It's really happening

Yes, I'm overwhelmed with the shock that the first draft of my novel is almost complete. Which means folks, its not by any means the end, as the first draft needs multiple revisions before I can even call it a book.

Tying up all the loose ends at the end of the book is tricky, but I've enjoyed the whole process (apart from the times I've procrastinated over doing it). I've found that one can really learn a heck of a lot, and here I'll tell you what I've learnt!

Basing my book on a woman's life in the 19th Century, I've learned that the twentieth century is a walk in the park! My victim is raised in a destitute and sleazy area of London, but this does not faze her, because she goes on to survive the horrors of poverty, disease, babyfarming, and the loss of most of her loved ones.

But does she moan about the queues at the supermarket or the cost of heating? No because these are things my MC has never had the privilege to experience let alone complain about.

So now in this experience, I have been humbled by my own creation - how's that for an outstanding personal lesson?
